I strongly believe in the power of the mind. Your mind-set determines your achievements and your failures. Any kind of training approached with a negative mind-set will be the same. If you see exercise as a chore, this article will hopefully help you to change that mind-set.

Here are my top 5 reasons why you should up you exercise to enhance your mood.

Science backs me up here.
When you exercise, your brain recognises this as a moment of stress. As your heart pressure increases, the brain thinks you are either fighting an enemy or fleeing from it. To protect yourself and your brain from stress, you release a chemical called Serotonin.

Serotonin has a reparative element to your memory neurons and acts as a reset switch. That is why things seem clearer, we feel at ease and happy after exercise.

At the same time endorphins, another chemical to fight stress, is released in your brain. The endorphins tend to minimise the discomfort of exercise, block the feeling of pain and are also associated with feelings of euphoria.

When you don’t feel good in your own body, it can lower your self- esteem. This can have a negative impact on pretty much all areas in your life: your relationships, your career, and your goals.

Increasing your exercise whether for cardio to lose weight, weights to gain strength or yoga for a strong mind will boost your confidence.

Physical activity prevents a wide range of health problems and concerns, including strokes, metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, arthritis and obesity. Being active boosts high-density lipoprotein (HDL), or “good” cholesterol and decreases unhealthy triglycerides. This keeps your blood flowing smoothly, which decreases your risk of cardiovascular diseases.

If you suffer with anxiety or depression exercise is like natural medicine. The immediate mood-boost from exercise is followed by a long-term sense of relief.

Staying mobile and stretching can prevent injuries and pulls from your day-to-day activity and aging, and after a good weight lifting sessions, those shopping bags will seem very easy to carry!

Regular physical activity can improve your muscle strength and boost your endurance. Exercise and physical activity deliver oxygen and nutrients to your tissues and help your cardiovascular system work more efficiently. When your heart and lungs work more efficiently, you have more energy to go through your daily routine.

It gives you a chance to experiment and challenge yourself and with the abundance of boutique classes popping up all over the Britain you can make it a social activity too.

Get into a class with friends or colleagues is the best way to socialise, have fun and get your workout done and stay fit and healthy.

Make the most of the sunny evenings, go for a run or a fast-paced walk, a dance class is great cardio and a great way to get a partner involved too!
